SPC flooring (Rigid Core LVP) is an upgrade and improvement of the hard core luxury vinyl flooring (LVT flooring), the leading product of the future.

SPC vinyl is a new flooring material that is waterproof, 100% virgin, rigid and dimensionally stable.

As an advanced and experienced SPC flooring manufacturer, DECNO knows the benefits of SPC flooring: 0 formaldehyde, 100% waterproof, lay as you like, high wear resistance, resilient flooring, adequate cushioning, dimensional stability and less deformation, low noise reduction, silent and enjoyable living, stain resistance and easy management, slip resistance and fast large area installation.

Let us elaborate on the advantages of SPC flooring.

SPC flooring is ultra-durable

Many of the best vinyl sheet flooring brands use SPC for a reason: it is easily one of the most durable flooring options around.

The only floors that perform similarly to other types of manufactured wood flooring compared to others are the best laminate flooring products and concrete floors that look like wood. And these are not as comfortable as SPC, which still retains some of the comfort offered by regular LVP.

In addition, the best SPC floors have a high quality wear layer that provides excellent scratch and dent resistance. So if you are looking for the best flooring for dogs, cats or messy toddlers, SPC flooring fits the bill.

It's also very stable

A good SPC flooring brand produces a product that does not react to changes in temperature and humidity as other types of flooring do. If you live in an environment notorious for high humidity, such as Florida, SPC offers the best looking hardwood flooring, but on a more stable platform that won't wilt from excessive moisture.

SPC flooring has a completely waterproof surface

Let's take a step back from SPC for a moment: luxury vinyl looks so much like wood that you might be tempted to ask if vinyl plank flooring can go in bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms or anywhere that gets wet. But it turns out that luxury vinyl flooring is arguably the best flooring for bathrooms. In fact, it's one of the best waterproof flooring options (so it can go into any of the rooms we've just mentioned).

Vinyl is completely unresponsive to water. In theory, it can stay wet for days and stay intact (that's the seam you have to worry about). Although the core of SPC is made from a different material, it is still a luxury vinyl; therefore, it is still waterproof vinyl flooring.

If you've been considering a wooden floor bathroom, SPC flooring offers a great way to achieve the look without having to ensure the floor is always immediately dry.

It comes in a variety of styles and looks

SPC flooring can mimic any and all species of wood flooring, including different species such as pine flooring or teak flooring, as well as most wood floor designs (if your contractor is savvy enough).

If you are not looking for a wood look, you will be pleased to know that many brands sell SPC flooring in various types of tiles and stone flooring that mimic wood grain.

Affordable compared to wood flooring

Firstly, let's explain the cost of wood flooring which can easily run into tens of thousands of dollars if you are buying quality wood for even a small room. Then you have to consider the cost of installation (the average cost of installing engineered hardwood flooring is $3-$8 per square foot).

You can easily find high-end SPC flooring for as low as $4 per square foot, and the cost of installing vinyl plank flooring (the core doesn't really affect the cost) is more easily digested at $1.50-$6 per square foot.

SPC flooring is often suitable for DIY

Most (but not all) SPC's can be considered for DIY flooring. Floating (or parquet) flooring is the easiest of the products to install, regardless of the type of flooring. You basically attach each piece of flooring to an adjacent plank or tile and then let gravity and friction do the rest.

On the other hand, glued vinyl sheet flooring (SPC or otherwise) can be quite difficult to install, so it's wise to hire a professional contractor.

So, if you want to save money, it makes sense to invest in floating vinyl plank flooring - and most SPC flooring brands produce products that click together. Please note though: we strongly recommend that you follow your vinyl flooring manufacturer's installation and instructions to a T, otherwise you could be in breach of the flooring warranty.

It's more environmentally friendly than 100% PVC flooring

SPC flooring is not made purely from PVC like regular luxury vinyl, so it is closer to eco-friendly flooring. Admittedly, the difference may not be dramatic, but it is.

SPC flooring, on the other hand, does not contain formaldehyde like many WPC products. Better still, many of the top vinyl sheet brands make low VOC vinyl flooring with an SPC core.

For reference, volatile organic compounds (or VOCs) are common harmful chemicals in flooring, especially those that are oil-based (such as PVC) or wood-based panels. Fortunately, the industry is aware of the negative effects of VOCs and low VOC flooring is fast becoming the norm.

Most high-end SPC flooring brands have products that are Floor Score or Greenguard certified as zero or low VOC anyway.
